Mbeya Campus College is one of the three campuses of Mzumbe University, established in 2006 to address the growing demand for higher education in Tanzania. Strategically located in the Forest area of Mbeya City, the campus is just 500 meters from the Tanzania-Zambia Highway and adjacent to the Bank of Tanzania (BOT) offices, ensuring convenient access for students and visitors alike. The campus offers a diverse range of programs, including postgraduate, undergraduate, and non-degree courses, tailored to meet the learning and skills development needs of students, individuals, and organizations.
The establishment of Mzumbe University Mbeya Campus College in January 2006 was driven by the government's directive to expand access to higher education following the "Double Cohort" in 2005. This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, enabled higher learning institutions to admit more students.
Mzumbe University Mbeya Campus College continues to play a vital role in delivering quality education and fostering academic excellence. Its core activities include teaching, conducting short training courses, and offering consultancy services, contributing significantly to the University's mission of advancing education and professional development.
Although the campus was originally established to provide access to university education for the underserved populations of the Southern Highlands region of Tanzania and neighboring countries, it has attracted significant interest from students across Tanzania and other East African countries. This widespread appeal reflects the campus's growing reputation and its ability to meet the educational needs of a diverse student body.
