Formal student activities are administered by the Mzumbe University Student Organization (MUSO). MUSO is concerned with s tudents‟ academic, social and recreational activities. Every MU student is automatically a member of MUSO. Most of the students‟ activities are organized by the student organization.

The student organization addresses itself on aspects of representing students‟ interest on various decision making bodies such as Faculty/Institute/School boards, Senate and University Council. MUSO under leadership of its Chairperson is a formal active voice of students, within and outside the university. Under MUSO there are affiliated organizations such as religious, Environment protection and foreign students' Organization.
