Dr. Mackfallen Giliadi Anasel is a Senior Lecturer and researcher in the Department of Health Systems Management at Mzumbe University, Tanzania, with over 15 years of experience. Since 2017, he has served as the Head of the Department and the Mzumbe University Centre of Excellence in Health Monitoring and Evaluation. He holds a Diploma in Clinical Medicine, a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration-Health Systems Management, an MSc in Population Studies, and a PhD in Demography with a focus on Family Planning Programme Implementation from Groningen University, the Netherlands. Dr. Anasel’s research interests include Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), policy implementation, reproductive health, and child health. He has authored over 20 articles in internationally accredited journals. He is the Principal Investigator of the "Making Women’s Options for HIV Prevention in Tanzania Accessible and Joining the Implementation Science Capacity Building" (MWOTAJI) project, which is implemented by the Ministry of Health, University of California institutions, and Health for a Prosperous Nation, funded by the Department of Health and Human Services – National Institutes of Health. Additionally, Dr. Anasel serves as Co-Chair of eight clinical research centers dedicated to adolescent health in Africa (PATC³H-IN) and as Senior Technical Lead for the project providing Technical Assistance to the Government of Tanzania and Public Health Institutions toward Health System Strengthening under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). He has also been involved in various health and development projects, including as Technical Lead for the Strengthening Leadership and Management Systems project funded by USAID and as Project Coordinator for the Data Use Partnership. He is the Co-Principal Investigator of the NISHATI project, funded by the European Commission Erasmus+ Programme, which focuses on building capacities in water, renewable energy, and agriculture to enhance resilience to climate change in Africa.
