Mzumbe University has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable energy and community development after successfully conducting a high-level training programme on Renewable Energy and Communities, held on September 4, 2025, at the University’s Main Campus in Morogoro. The event brought together academic staff, researchers, and students, equipping them with practical skills to advance renewable energy solutions in Tanzania. The programme was facilitated by international experts, Ms. Isabella Pizzuti and Mr. Gabriele Gagliardi, who delivered interactive sessions covering European legal frameworks on renewable energy, design processes and challenges of community-based projects, energy systems modelling using TRNSYS and PyRES, as well as microbial fuel cells through hands-on laboratory activities. Participants gained valuable knowledge and tools that will enable them to drive innovation and sustainability in the energy sector. The training concluded with round-table discussions where insights, challenges, and opportunities for applying renewable energy technologies within local contexts were shared. The success of this training reflects the NISHATI Project’s commitment to capacity building and highlights Mzumbe University’s dedication to promoting renewable energy solutions that directly benefit local communities across Tanzania.
