Mzumbe University has continued to strengthen its global academic excellence after two of its scholars participated in an international teaching exchange at the University of Bonn, on 04 May 2026 in Bonn, Germany, under the Erasmus+ Programme. Professor Frank Theobald Theodory and Dr. Enock Enock Mwakalila participated in the mobility as part of a trilateral partnership bringing together Mzumbe University, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), and the University of Bonn, with a shared goal of advancing teaching, research, and institutional cooperation across borders. While in Germany, the two academicians delivered guest lectures to postgraduate students enrolled in the Master of Science in Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security, an internationally acclaimed programme jointly offered by the University of Bonn and the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security. Their engagement added practical insights and global perspectives to the programme’s focus on addressing complex environmental and human security challenges. Reflecting on the initiative, Professor Theodory, who also serves as Programme Coordinator, emphasized that the Erasmus+ mobility scheme continues to create transformative opportunities for Mzumbe University. He noted that the programme has enabled students, faculty, and administrative staff to participate in international exchanges, expand professional networks, and gain exposure to diverse academic systems. “This collaboration is instrumental in strengthening our academic capacity and reinforcing our position within the global higher education landscape,” he said. The current phase of the Erasmus+ programme is expected to conclude in June 2026. However, demonstrating the success and strategic value of the partnership, the coordinating team has already submitted an application for extension to ensure continuity and further expansion of the initiative.
