Mzumbe University, in partnership with Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and the University of Bonn, Germany, has successfully secured a three-year extension of the Erasmus Mobility Programme, following a highly favourable evaluation of the joint project proposal. The renewed phase will run from 2027 to 2029, further strengthening academic cooperation, mobility opportunities, and institutional partnerships among the three universities. The partnership was initially launched through its first phase from 2020 to 2023, followed by a second phase from 2023 to 2026. Both phases recorded significant achievements in promoting academic mobility, strengthening institutional linkages, and enhancing international cooperation in higher education. With the commencement of the third phase, the three institutions will continue building on these achievements while expanding opportunities for more students and scholars to benefit from international learning experiences, research networks, and professional development opportunities. During a recent visit to Mzumbe University, Ms. Johanna Luettge from the University of Bonn highlighted the value of the partnership, noting that the third phase will continue creating opportunities for students and scholars. "As we enter this third phase, Mzumbe students and scholars will continue to benefit from our strong partnership with the University of Bonn for the next three years," said Ms. Luettge. Prof. Frank Theodory, the Erasmus Mobility Programme Coordinator at Mzumbe University, said the new phase will provide more opportunities for international exposure, professional development, and academic collaboration. "The third phase will strengthen knowledge exchange and enhance research and teaching cooperation between our institutions," said Prof. Theodory. The Acting Vice Chancellor of Mzumbe University, Prof. Allen Mushi, commended the achievement and recognized the efforts of the project team in ensuring the programme’s continuation. He reaffirmed the university management’s commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the third phase. "Mzumbe University highly values this strategic partnership, and we are delighted that the programme has been extended. This achievement reflects the dedication of our project team, and the university management will continue providing the necessary support to ensure greater success in this phase," said Prof. Mushi.
