MZUMBE UNIVERSITY STRENGTHENS INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION THROUGH TANZIE PROJECT

Mzumbe University has actively participated in the launch of Tanzania Internationalisation Strategies for Higher Education (TANZIE) project, held at the University of Alicante, Spain, and the University of Saarland, Germany. The TANZIE project aims to enhance the global engagement of Tanzania’s Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) by strengthening institutional capacity for planning and implementing internationalisation in Tanzanian HEIs, developing internationalisation strategies and offices and fostering intercultural competencies among faculty, staff, and students for a global learning environment. The project is co-funded by the European Union and will be implemented over three years (2025–2027). The project will bring together four European institutions—University of Alicante (Spain), University of Saarland (Germany), EFMD—and five Tanzanian partners namely: Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), Mzumbe University (MU), Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM), Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS), and Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST). The TANZIE Project runs alongside the Sierra Leone Education in Entrepreneurial Pedagogy and Skills (SLEEK) project, which focuses on strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems and job creation in Sierra Leone. The parallel implementation of these projects provides valuable opportunities for cross-learning and experience-sharing, especially in advancing entrepreneurship programs at Mzumbe University through staff and student capacity development. The delegation from Mzumbe University is led by Prof. William Mwegoha, Vice Chancellor of Mzumbe University, accompanied by Dr. Lucy Massoi, Director of the Internationalization and Convocation Unit and Dr. Lawrencia Mushi, Head of the Quality Assurance Unit. Prof. William Mwegoha, held discussions with the President of the University of Alicante, Prof. Amparo Navarro Faure, exploring on further collaboration opportunities.
